FOX - Winifred Klenk Fox, age 98, of Grand Rapids passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011. Winnie was preceded in death by her husband James R. Fox, also her brothers, Otto and Erwin Klenk, her sisters, Esther Succop and Althea Thibaudeau. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Muriel Fox of Chicago; four generations of nieces and nephews, Robert (Irene) Succop, Ronald (Barbara) Klenk, Paula Emmons, Elvera Dinkmeyer, Suzette (Rich) Stauffer, Lois (Bill) Nixon, Phyllis (Jim) Powers, Barbara (Tim) Kilgore, Doug Fox, Kevin (Barbe) Nolan, and David Nolan. Winnie taught Business Studies in the Godwin Public Schools and spent part of her time being the Junior High Principal. She also taught in Muskegon High School's Vocational Dept. In 1949, Winnie became a faculty member of the Grand Rapids Junior Collage organizing the first cooperative Business Education Program. In 1965, she became a full-time Counselor and was later appointed Chairperson Liaison for the Michigan Colleges and Universities. After retiring Winnie became a Realtor with Village Belles Real Estate. For a few years she was a noon time model in Herpolsheimer's Kent room often surprising friends who were dining there. She was also a world traveler and along with husband gave travel talks to various community groups. During her and her husband's travels they visited over 170 countries. A long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Zonta Club of Grand Rapids of which she was president, member of Women's City Club, University of Michigan Alumni, Grand Rapids Federation of the University of Michigan's Alumnae clubs and Delta Pi Epsilon and a National Honorary Society in Business. A special thanks to friends, Pete and Tuti DeMaagd, Rita Champion, cousin; Susy Weston and the caring staff at Meadowlark where Winnie lived the last three years. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2 Michigan St NE with Rev. Gordon Goltz officiating. Interment at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Conklin, MI. Friends and relatives may greet Winnie's family on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller Ave NE or one hour prior to the service at church.
