Thomas P. Bednarek, aged 82, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully Friday, June 1, 2007. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerome. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Rae; his children, Kary and Frank Cinder, Sue and John Smolenski, Jill Summit, Phillip and Maureen Bednarek; his grandchildren, Frank and Jennifer Cinder, Rae Anne and Chad Langenburg, Claire Cinder, Matt and Tim Smolenski, Katlin, Allison, and Alexander Bednarek. Many nieces, nephews and dear friends at Heather Hills. Thomas served with the U.S. Army during WWII., was a graduate of Michigan State University where he was a member of 2 fraternitys, was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church, a 25 year Monarch with the Lions Club, was an avid golfer belonging to The Elks C.C., Forest Hills C.C., Greenrideg C.C., Spring Lake C.C., Watermark C.C., Panther Woods C.C. in Ft. Pierce, Fl., and Alpine G.C., was active with the Michigan Groundwater Association, President of Fuller Supply Co. in Grand Rapids, and was a C.P.A. partner with Canton, Rosenbaum, and Lilley for several years. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2275 Diamond Ave. N.E. (meet at church) with Rev. George Darling as Celebrant. Interment in Blythefield Memory Gardens. If you would like to pay your respects to Thomas, please visit the Reyers North Valley Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday where a Scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m., and one hour before the mass on Tuesday.
