Sebastian Benny was born on January 19, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois to Rosalie Priola and Sam Fiore. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the destroyer USS McLanahan as a Machinist Mate Third Class during World War II where he received the Victory medal, The American Area Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Area Campaign Medal [four stars], The Good Conduct Medal, the French Croix de Guerre Medal. He married Janet Lowry. Benny was a printer foreman for 35 years at Amberg File & Index, owner of the Dutch Mill supper club in Gilman for over 18 years. He was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Kankakee, IL. Benny was an accomplished golfer.He is survived by his wife, Janet, a half-sister, Patsy Sharbel, of Kansas City, MO., cousins, Stephanie Sorensen of Kankakee, IL., Carmella Arseneau of Bradley, IL., Rose Mary Alberts of Clifton, IL. and Jim Digregorio of Arizona who were raised together like brothers and sisters, and a niece Linda Keisler of Clifton, IL., and a nephew David Leggott of Bonfield.He was preceded in death by his parents, he was then raised by his aunt and uncle Jim & Lena Digregorio who also preceded him in death, a sister, Josephine Leggott, a half-borther, Tony Guerrera, and a counsin, Antioinette Toni Normandin.
