Roman Kaminski, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at the age of 89. He wished to be cremated and a Catholic burial mass will be held later for the family to be together to celebrate his life. Roman is survived by Rita, his loving wife of 62 years; his children, Juddee' Maxwell of Cadillac, MI, Donna Kaminski (Chuck Bentley) of Kalamazoo, MI, Dennis (Ruth) Kaminski of Belmont, MI, Janis (Mike) Yowtz of Grand Rapids, and Annette (Vinny) Trnka of Bettendorf, IA; grandchildren, Denise, Debbie, Nikki, Brad, Shanee' and Justin; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Zach, Sam, Michael, Chelsea, and Mitchell. He was proud of his service to his country as a cryptographer during WWII and continued to provide public service with his career in the federal government. Roman was a kind and compassionate man who easily related to people with his humor and good nature. His ever-present warmth and character made those around him see themselves and the world in a much happier light. He was a long-time member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. The family would like to extend a grateful appreciation to the staff members of St. Mary's Hospital/The Lacks Center who supported Roman and the family during his hospital stay, allowing him to pass away peacefully. God bless them for their warmth and compassion during the last days of his life. It will always be remembered. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lacks Center at St. Mary's. Arrangements by: Memorial Alternatives 2432 Fuller NE, 363-3700 www.memorialalternatives.com
