Obituary
Rachel Colleen Snyder, 56, of Comstock Township, Michigan, passed away on July 1, 2023. Born on February 6, 1967, in Detroit, Michigan, Rachel was a talented, artistic and benevolent person who dedicated her time to those in need, particularly those in the twilight of their lives. Her generous spirit, love of nature and commitment to the future of the environment were defining characteristics of her life.
Rachel's career encompassed many passions: her unwavering pursuit of musical and artistic endeavors throughout her life. She found solace and fulfillment in both realms, leaving a lasting impact on those she encountered in her travels. While living in California, she was chosen to redesign and completely renovate several historical buildings in one community. Her recreational pursuits included rock climbing, which she embraced in sites such as Joshua Tree National Park and Yosemite National Park.
Like her mother and grandmother before her, Rachel was an avid reader. Her educational journey included attending Seabreeze Sr. High School in Daytona Beach, FL, and furthering her studies at Daytona Beach Community College.
Rachel's memory will be cherished by her father, George Leroy Snyder of Hillsdale MI, her mother, Diana Ebinger of Comstock Township, MI and her daughter, Evelyn Davis of New York, NY. She was preceded in death by all her grandparents, who surely welcomed her into Heaven with open arms.
For decades before her demise, Rachel enjoyed the companionship and camaraderie of Patrick Neal of Schoolcraft MI and together they adopted and raised a litter of pit bull puppies. Each year these "fur babies" traveled around to various state campgrounds and made many new two and four legged friends.
In accordance with Rachel's wishes, no services will be held. However, those who wish to honor her memory and continue her legacy of compassion and care may consider making contributions to the Michigan Audubon Society, Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes, the Kalamazoo Humane Society or the University of Michigan (Marching Band, Men's Ice Hockey or Taubman College).
Rachel Snyder will be remembered for her artistic talent, her dedication to helping others, and her unwavering love of nature. Her impact on the lives she touched will forever be cherished.
