Obituary
TROOST - Paul R. Troost, aged 73, of Byron Township, died Monday, March 23, of congestive heart failure. Mr. Troost was a dedicated teacher at Byron Center Public Schools and Kelloggsville Public Schools before retiring in 1991. He also proudly served as a Byron Township Trustee and Township Clerk for many years. He was a life-long member of the Reformed Church in America, belonging successively to Home Acres Reformed, Olivet Reformed, Woodhaven Reformed, and Central Reformed Churches. He was a graduate of Hope College and Western Michigan University. Family members who preceded in death were his parents, Paul and Janet Troost of Byron Township; and his brother, Rev. Donald P. Troost of Scotia, NY. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, W. Jean; his three sons, Michael of Berkeley, CA, Paul M. (Patricia) of Grandville, and James (Kimberly) of South Lyon; his eight grandchildren, John, Evan, Connor, Thomas, Sydney, Collin, Karyn and Jeffrey; a sister, Sarah (Jerold) Pell of Kentwood; sister-in-law, Carol Troost of Scotia, NY; and a brother-in-law, Paul VanHaitsma of Byron Township. The Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 26, at Central Reformed Church, 10 College NE, with Dr. Louis Lotz officiating. Interment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery in Kentwood.
