Mildred Jean Ramona (Combs) Diller, went home to be with Jesus Thursday at 10:30 AM Mildred Jean was a coal miner's daughter, born in the hills of Red Onion, Ky. She was raised by her mother Dora Combs with her sister Pauline, and three brothers Billy (who passed away when he was three), Charles Combs (a P.O.W. for 3 1/2 years in Korea), and Jim Kilborne (a retired Lieutenant-Colonel in the Air Force.) Mildred Jean worked nights near Battle Creek in a truck stop and served huge portions to a seven foot tall truck driver named Jon Willis Diller. Jon bought a brand new metallic light green Buick right off the show room floor. Mildred asked for a ride. Then on February 28, 1954 they married in Valparaiso, Indiana for life. She loved country cookin' and country music. She sang and played guitar with her sister Pauline on the radio, and Katie Phillips at Cooper Baptist Church, where she was baptized in the mid 60's in Katie and George's pool. Mildred also attended Nazareth Assembly of God. Jon and Mildred Diller joined Kalamazoo Covenant Church in 1970. She had four sons, David Resnick (unknown location), also three sons preceeding her in death; Laneth O'Donnis Fish a.k.a. Peter Diller, Richard Stanley Fish, and Robert Arnold Diller. She had one daughter Rebecca (Diller) Doorlag, husband Mark; grandchildren Nate (Candice) Doorlag daughter Savannah, Grace (Eric) Jones daughter Lily, Jonathan (Sarah) Doorlag, and Joy Doorlag. Mildred son's had children including Brian (Fish) LadKrood, Dawn Marie, Abby Wier, and others; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mildred Jean's memorial service will be held on Sunday January 3rd, at 4:00 PM at the Kalamazoo Covenant Church, 5708 East Main St, Kalamazoo.(S.W. corner of East Main and 26th St.) Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S.
