Marie Smit

SMIT (PADDING) - On Friday evening, October 28, 2011, Marie Smit, age 91, of Hudsonville, peacefully went to the presence of her faithful Savior, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Henry G Smit; granddaughter, Kristen Hoogenstyn; and brothers, Harold, John and Marv Padding. She is survived by her children, Elaine and Hank Buckholz, Dee and Clarence Robart, Garry and Mary Smit, Willard and Karen Smit, Mary and Ron Hoogenstyn; 13 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Vi, Gertrude, and Marlene Padding and Quirena Schutte; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Beaverdam Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Tyler Wagenmaker officiating. Interment at Beaverdam Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family at the VanderLaan Funeral Home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Beaverdam Christian School.
