Louis Geresy

Age 86 of Kalamazoo passed away Saturday morning, December 21, 2024. Louie was born in Kalamazoo, on October 28, 1938, the son of Louis and Viola (Sennyes) Geresy, Sr. On January 31, 1957, he married Barbara Lee Jones who preceded him in death in 2022. He worked as a farmer all his life and was an extremely hard-working guy. Louie was an active member of Valley View Bible Church. Earlier he had been a member at Covey Hill Baptist Church. He was especially active in the children's ministry of the church and was known by children in the church as "Uncle Louie." Louie loved his family. Nothing was more important to him than knowing Jesus, and he worked at being a devoted follower of Him. Louie is survived by his children, Jim (Lisa) Geresy, Evonne (Steve) Heystek, Steve Geresy; grandchildren, Christian Geresy, Sarah (Dave) Taplin, Julie (Chris) Fennell, Vicki (Chad) Thornburgh, Casey Grooten, Steve Geresy and Emma Geresy; ten great grandchildren; sister, Margaret Babcock; several nieces and nephews and countless friends. Besides his wife, Louie was preceded in death by his parents; and a son-in-law, Rick Grooten. A funeral service in witness to Louie's life and faith will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Valley View Bible Church, 8979 W. Main St., Kalamazoo. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the service at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Louie will be laid to rest next to Barbara at West Oshtemo Cemetery.
