Lela Margaret Shea, 94, of Kankakee, died on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Miller Healthcare Center. Lela was born on May 22, 1918 to the late Edward and Clara (Dill) Grogg in Bucyrus, OH. She graduated from Washington Township Centralized High School of Dola, OH on May 2, 1935. She married Albert Shea on April 18, 1936 in Auburn, IN. and the two were married until Albert’s death on August 8, 2000. She was a member of College Church of the Nazarene in Bourbonnais, IL.

Lela is survived by her two sons; Gene (Barbara) Shea of San Diego, CA and Clayton Shea of Sarasota, FL., three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert, her three sisters and her two brothers. She was the last of her family.

A time of gathering for friends and family will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Bourbonnais Chapel of the Schreffler Life Story Funeral Homes, 1100 N. Convent. Lela’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., also at the Bourbonnais Chapel of the Schreffler Life Story Funeral Homes. Burial will immediately follow at Kankakee Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the General Scholarship Fund at Olivet Nazarene University.
