Katherine M. Platz

Katherine M. Platz Battle Creek Katherine M. Platz, 83, of Battle Creek, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008 at The Manor of Battle Creek. She was born August 28, 1924 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Benjamin and Viola (Brown) Dirks. She married Norval G. Platz on December 9, 1945 in East Jordon, MI and he preceded her in death on April 9, 1999. Katherine retired from the Federal Center. Her father, Benjamin, founded the Union City Assembly of God and she was the church organist and secretary-treasurer there for many years before she retired in the spring of 2006. Katherine enjoyed traveling to the Holy Land and she had an interest in computers. She and her husband, Norval, pioneered a church in Madison Heights, MI in their youth. Surviving are her daughters, Pat (Roy) Rolfe of Portage, Beverly Platz of Battle Creek, Brenda (Mark) Ehle of Dowling; sister, Ruth Sheffer of Yukon, OK; sister-in-law, Alma Platz of Delton; 4 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Delores Cleaver. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Memorial tributes may be made to Union City Assembly of God.
