Janet (Amburgey) Alley

Mrs. Janet E. (Amburgey) Alley, age 77, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 11, 2013. Janet grew up in Sparta and graduated from Sparta High School. She attended Moody Bible Institute, and then married Harvey Alley on December 30, 1955. Janet loved helping people in her jobs at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary and Radio Bible Class. For many years she taught piano lessons out of her home. In her leisure time, Janet enjoyed gardening, collecting dolls, playing the piano and working crossword puzzles. Janet loved the Lord and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Harvey; children, Laura (Frank) Hoekstra-Bettig, Greg (Deb) Alley, and Carolyn (Doug) Hart; grandchildren, Erin, Tricia, Katie and Kerri Alley, Betsy Hoekstra, Justin and Anya Hart; sisters, Donna (Irv) Lister and Cheryl (Jim) Bowman; and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Chester and Marie Amburgey; sisters, Lorna Broussard and Karalee Amburgey; and son-in-law, Bob Hoekstra. The service to Celebrate Janet's life will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 11:00AM at Calvary Baptist Church, 1200 - 28th St. SE., Grand Rapids, Dr. Michael Wittmer officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Dr. NE., Belmont on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 from 5 to 8PM.
