Obituary
Jackson David Schreuder, age 17, passed away at his home in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on November 16, 2024. Born on December 29, 2006, Jackson was baptized at Fourth Reformed Church in Kalamazoo. He belongs body and soul, in life and in death, to his faithful Savior, Jesus Christ.
Jesus answered him, "Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise." Luke 23:43
Jackson "Jack" was a sweet, fun-loving boy with a strong sense of humor and appreciation for God's world. He had exceptional natural talent playing the piano, drums, and he sang like an angel. Jack was proud of his weightlifting talent, bench pressing a record 375 pounds. He dearly loved his faithful Doberman, Bruno. His mother called him "Jackie-Bear" as he gave the best bear hugs. Fish feared him and he had no fear of giant snapping turtles and frogs he pulled out of the creek at Grandpa's. He enjoyed late night drives with his sister, Olivia, amusement parks, summertime fun with cousins, making silly videos, swimming, tubing on the lake, and just hanging out and making memories. Jack enjoyed traveling to Doha, Qatar, in 2023 to visit family and recently, and he enjoyed a fun vacation with his mother and sisters to Universal Studios.
Jackson is survived by his parents, David H Schreuder and Sarah J Bentley; his sisters, Olivia and Violet; and grandparents, John and Jane Schreuder of Kalamazoo, and Larry and Sally Bentley of Vermontville. He also leaves behind aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly. Among them are Susan and Scott Vanden Berg of Holland, and cousins, Ella, Abram, and Charlotte; Michael and Jennifer Schreuder of Kalamazoo, and cousins, John Michael, Jessica, Cynthia, and Miranda; Steve and Jill Schreuder of Kalamazoo; Terri and Ben Turner of Waunakee, Wisconsin, and cousins, Aiden and Ashlee; Uncle TJ of New York City; great-aunt, Terri Mucciante of Portage; and many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
"Blessed are those that mourn, for they will be comforted." Matthew 5:4
Visitation will be held at Prairie Edge Christian Reformed Church of Portage on Thursday, November 21, at 12pm, with a funeral service at 1pm, followed by a private burial service.
