Frank Filipek

Frank E. Filipek, age 84, of Kankakee, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2008 in Kankakee, IL. He is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Jim (Mary) Filipek of Kankakee and Tom (Beth) Filipek of Hamilton, OH; a sister-in-law, Marcella Niemann; two grandchildren, Brad and Katie Filipek; three stepgrandchildren, Dawn (John) Nagel, Heather (Mark) Hamilton and Christopher (Betsy) Benoit; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Theresa Filipek; and a granddaughter, Megan Filipek. Frank was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, served in the U.S. Army with the 38th Division during WWII and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Visitation will take place Sunday, March 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. at The Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Home, 1900 W. Court St., Kankakee, IL. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 10 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Kankakee. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
