Elmer G. Becker, age 97, of Cullom, IL. passed away on Monday, June 25, 2012 at Harvest View of Herscher in Herscher, IL. Elmer was born on January 5, 1915 in Emington, IL. the son of Nicholas and Elizabeth Becker. He was a member of the Army Air corps during WWII, a longtime farmer in Cullom, IL., a truck driver having owned and operated Becker Trucking in Cullom, IL., was a former member of the Livingston County Farm Bureau, Pontiac Amvets, Herscher American Legion, Emington American Legion, and Dwight Senior Citizens. Elmer also very much enjoyed playing Euchre and was still playing just days ago. He is survived by his step-children; Gerald (Nancy) Schultz of St. Anne, IL., Jack (Sharon) Schultz of Beaverville, IL., James (Linda) Schultz of Herscher, IL., and Larry Schultz of Champaign, IL., a brother Harold Becker of Pontiac, IL., 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, a great-great grandson, and several nieces and nephews. Elmer was preceded in death by his wives Goldie Roberts (1971) and Mary Schultz-Becker (2004), his parents, brothers; John, Raymond, and Harvey Becker, sisters; Mae Owens and Margaruite Becker, and two infant brothers.

A time of gathering will take place on Thursday, June 28, 2012 from 9:30am until the time of services at 11:00am at Schreffler Life Story Funeral Homes Herscher Chapel followed by an interment at Kankakee Memorial Gardens Kankakee, IL.

In Lieu of flowers memorials to the Diabetes Association or to the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
