Obituary
David Harold Honeywell, 88, found himself in the loving arms of God on August 26, 2024, after a long journey through the various stages of dementia. Born in Three Rivers, Michigan, on June 15, 1936, the firstborn of Harold and Joy Honeywell, he is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Roberta Ellen Funk Honeywell; two daughters, Lauri Etheridge (Keith) and Tracy Gold (Duff); five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Honeywell (Debbie); a sister, Alice Honeywell; three nieces and a nephew. An alumnus of Delton High School, William Jennings Bryan College, and Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary, Dave taught Spanish at Delton High School while serving as pastor of the Inter Lakes Baptist Church (1962-67); and Three Rivers High School (1967-95). During summers he worked in construction and for the State of Michigan as a social worker for migrant farm workers. He was an avid photographer, model railroader, and he loved traveling with his family and his students, whom he led numerous times to Mexico and Spain for educational enrichment. A man of many passions and talents, including a beautiful, melodic bass voice and a charming sense of humor, he endeared himself to family members and students alike. In retirement he and Roberta especially loved traveling, hiking, and exploring in the American Southwest. A celebration of life will take place at East End Cooperative Ministry, 6140 Station St., Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on September 14.
