Local businessman, Daniel Duane Launius, a beloved husband and father, passed away surrounded by close family at his home on March 21, 2025.

Dan, a Marine and Vietnam Veteran was a gifted man who loved his work. He graduated from Climax-Scotts High School as the 1968 Valedictorian. For over 20 years, Dan lived in a suburb of Indianapolis, growing his commercial HVAC/refrigeration business and raising his children. Dan returned to Climax in 1997 and married his high school love, Carol (Simmons). Between them, Dan and Carol have five adult children residing in the Kalamazoo area. A mechanical contractor by trade, Dan was self-employed for most of his professional life and passed his extensive knowledge onto two of his sons. Dan often said, "when you love what you do, you never work a day in your life."

Dan is preceded in death by his mother, Geneva (Loveland); father, Bill Launius; grandparents; and his beloved uncle, Thomas Loveland.

Dan is survived by his wife, Carol (Simmons); children, Ian Launius, Meghan Launius, Shane Launius, Shannon Sutej, Alan Findlay; sisters, Deanne (Gary) Crane and Darlyn (Mike) Turner; four grandchildren, Geneva, Noah, Colton, Khloe; numerous nieces and nephews; countless friends, business associates, and extended family.

Dan will be remembered as a devoted husband and supportive father with a one-of-a-kind sense of humor that never faded.

At this time cremation has taken place and arrangements will be forthcoming for a celebration of life.
