Obituary
Barbara Jean Orlik, 84, passed away Friday, December 5, 2008, in Castroville, Texas at the Medina Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center. Barbara was a home-maker and a retired school bus driver. Barbara was the wife of the late Florian Marion Orlik, nicknamed Floyd, and were married 43 years. She was born Barbara Jean McDonald on June 13, 1924 in Hesperia, Leavitt Township, Michigan to the late John McDonald and the late Tressa (Flake) McDonald. Barbara lived in Grand Rapids, Michigan until the late 1960s then moved to Newaygo, Michigan. Barbara is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Patricia Orlik of Palm City, Florida, Thomas and Nadine Orlik of Castroville, Texas; her brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Doris McDonald of Caledonia, Michigan; sisters, Beverly Duchnowski of Dublin, Michigan and Shirley Place of Wayne, Michigan and brother-in-law, James Cran of Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was preceded by her companion, Wayne Brockway and sister, Betty Cran. Barbara graduated from Kenowa Hills High School in 1989. She was past President and thirty-seven year member of the American Legion Auxiliary 381, Croton, Michigan. Barbara was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church, Newaygo, Michigan. Grandchildren and their spouses are Jennifer and Michael Winfield, Lisa and Jeff Sharp, Lorrie and Kenny Hendrix, Regina Huber, and Kathleen Orlik; 13 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 1 p.m. in the chapel at St. Ann's Home, 1261 Leonard St. NW, Grand Rapids, MI. Rite of Committal will follow in the chapel at Holy Cross Cemetery, 2000 Walker NW, Grand Rapids, MI. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
