Andrea (Gabriel) Carlson

CARLSON - Andrea Marie Carlson (Gabriel), age 49, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 9, 2011. She was preceded in death by her father Francis L. Gabriel, and a sister Beth Ann Gabriel. Surviving are her husband of 15 years, William C. Carlson; children, Cullen and Brendan Carlson; mother, Dorothy Gabriel of Dearborn Heights; sisters and brothers, Bernadette Schaffer (Lewis), Gary Gabriel, Timothy Gabriel (Patricia), Cheryl Golles (Christopher), Janet Bowers (William); and 23 nieces and nephews. Andrea graduated from Madonna University in 1991 with a B.S. in Psychology, and in 1994 from the University of Detroit Mercy receiving her Masters with a school psychology specialty. Andrea has worked for The Grand Rapids School District since 1992 as a School Psychologist, and was Co-President of the Highlands Parent Teacher Council, a Mentor with the Northview Mentor Program, and an advocate for students with disabilities. She enjoyed walking, skiing, canoeing, reading, traveling with her family, and most importantly being a great mom and wife. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2275 Diamond Ave., N.E., Grand Rapids, MI with Rev. George Darling as Celebrant. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 11th, 2011 from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. with the rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller Ave., N.E., Grand Rapids, MI and one hour prior to Mass Thursday at the church.
