Obituary
WORTMAN, ALLAN Allan Kent Wortman, age 65, resident of Cadiz, KY and Kentwood, MI, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 Allan was born in Grand Rapids, MI on April 13, 1947 to Orville and Theresa (Morse) Wortman. While attending Grandville High School, he met and later married Barbara L. Hild, his wife of 43 years. Allan went on to graduate from the University of Michigan and then to serve his country as 1st Lieutenant in the Army Corp of Engineers in Europe. Upon his return, he continued his education at Cleary University of Business, graduated summa cum laude, and was selected as "Man of the Year". He was a CPA and financial consultant in Tustin, CA for over 30 years. Al and Barb then retired to the Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky. Allan was first and foremost a loving and devoted husband. He was an avid gourmet cook, enjoyed listening to music, fishing on his boat and spending time outdoors. Throughout his life, Allan was a loyal Detroit Tigers fan and last but not least, always enjoyed a good cigar and a fine glass of wine. He was preceded in death by his father, Orville O. Wortman and his brother-in-law, George Hild. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara; mother, Theresa, of Grandville; siblings, Larry Wortman, of Newaygo, Garry (Sharon) Wortman, of Jenison, Brian (Kathy) Wortman, of Jenison, Douglas (Kathi) Wortman, of Byron Center, Thomas Wortman, of Grandville, and Beth McCullough, of Grandville. Also surviving are his father and mother-in-law, Frank and Virginia Hild of Kansas City, KS; Frank (Julie) Hild of Kansas City, KS, Geoffrey (Pam) Hild of Wyoming, MI; as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Cook Funeral Home (West), 4235 Prairie St. SW Grandville. Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building). Interment will be at Rosedale Cemetery.
