Age 89, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024. Rose was born in Fairfield Township, PA on April 6, 1935, the daughter of Steve and Katherine (Ridilla) Stanislav. She was a long-time Kalamazoo resident, coming from Ferndale, MI, where she lived with her sister and brother in-law, Margaret and Richard Cook. Rose graduated from Ligonier High School in Pennsylvania, class of 1952. She attended college in Indiana, PA, majoring in business administration. She was a member of St. John's Eastern Orthodox Church in Wilpen, PA before moving to Michigan. Rose was assigned to Kalamazoo AAA Life Insurance Company office in 1955 as a supervisor, coming from the Detroit office. She worked there for 13 years until its closing. She then was employed by Bronson Hospital and retired from Borroughs Manufacturing Company after many years working as a human resources specialist. Rose coordinated the Red Cross Blood Drive and the United Way Campaign and was very committed to planning many functions for Borroughs. She was a member of Professional Secretaries International (PSI) and was voted PSI Secretary of the Year in 1990 for the Kalamazoo Chapter. Rose was on the board of the Arthritis Foundation Salute to Secretaries for several years. She was a member of Westwood Church of God and most recently a member of Hope Church. In 1959, she was united in marriage to Jack W. LaFountain, who preceded her in death in 1995. In 2003, she married Harold C. Langeland, who preceded her in death on July 15, 2023. Rose was also preceded in death by her siblings, Margaret Cook Ferkler, George Stanislav, John Stanislav, Edward Stanislav, Steve Stanislav, Jr., Charles Stanislav, Victor Stanislav and Lucille Stanislav. She is survived by three sisters, Agnes Kowalczyk, Catherine Volchko and Mary Jane Westbrook; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 South 9th St., Kalamazoo, MI 49009, with Pastor Curry Pikkaart officiating. Visitation for family and friends will take place at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego, Michigan.
