Marian Jean (Kalee) Lemmer went peacefully into the arms of Jesus at Rose Arbor Hospice on July 20, 2024. She was born on November 16, 1928, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Marian moved to Kalamazoo when she was five years old. She attended Portage Central High School and graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1946.

Marian married James August Lemmer on October 25, 1947, and they were married 73 years until Jim went home to be with the Lord in 2021. Marian enjoyed visiting Lake Michigan, knitting, bowling, golfing, puzzles, Yahtzee, and she was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers. She and Jim raised four children in the Lord, teaching them that servanthood and compassion for others is of the utmost. Marian served her church, Prairie Edge Christian Reformed, in a multitude of ways over the years, mainly moments behind the scenes encouraging others and always ready to bring a meal to those in need. She loved her church, her family and the Lord.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Henry William and Bertha Lena Kalee; sister, Lois Hazelhoff Temple; and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Marian is survived by her children, Doug (Mary) Lemmer, Dennis (Amy) Lemmer, Donn (Sharron) Lemmer, and Debra (Brian) Youngblood; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren plus one on the way in December; brother, Bill Kalee; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joel and Janet Lemmer; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Friday, July 26, 2024, at 11:00am at Prairie Edge Christian Reformed Church, 9316 Oakland Dr, Portage, MI 49024, where the family will greet friends from 10:00-11:00am. A luncheon will immediately follow, with a graveside service at 2:00pm at Portage South Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prairie Edge Christian Reformed Church or Centrica Care Navigators (Rose Arbor Place).
