Maria Luisa Diaz

Maria Luisa Diaz, age 78, of Holland, died on Saturday June 28, 2008 in Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital.

Born in San Antonio, TX on June 22, 1930, she was raised in Laredo, TX. She moved to Holland in 1962 with her husband, Hermenegildo and children. Maria Luisa was an Avon Representative for over 20 years. Maria Luisa and her husband were radio announcers for WHTC and WJBL from 1964 until the early 1980’s. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and volunteered for many years at Evergreen Commons. She retired from Walters Gardens after 25 years of service

She was preceded in death by her sons, Luis Francisco Longoria, Federico Diaz, and her father, Federico Flores Sr.; her brothers, Guadalupe Flores and Juan Flores.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Hermenegildo Diaz Sr.; her children, Lydia Longoria and Jose Amador, Hermenegildo II and Elizabeth Diaz; twelve grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren; her mother, Francisca Flores; her brothers, Jose Flores and Federico Flores, her sister, Prudenciana Flores Barrera; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 3 at 10:00am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 195 West 13th Street with Fr. Charles Brown officiating.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2 from 6-9 PM at Dykstra Life Story Funeral Homes, Downtown Chapel, 29 E. 9th Street.

Burial will take place in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
