Lisa Helsom

Lisa Christine Helsom, age 43, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024 at her parents home in Scotts, Michigan. The daughter of Dale Francis & Nancy Lynn (Crisenbery) Helsom, she was born on March 21, 1981 in Southfield, Michigan. Lisa graduated from Jackson Northwest High School, earned her Bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University and worked as a supervisor with Samaritas helping families and children. She was previously a head start teacher. She was a fierce advocate of the children and families that she worked with and made a huge difference in so many lives. Lisa had many passions including: elephants, fashion, home decorating, Green Bay Packers, Alabama football, her two sphynx cats (Layla and Nala) and of course her crazy haircolors. Throughout her life she had many wonderful friends that she loved dearly and who loved her and supported through challenges. In February 2023 she was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, a deadly brain tumor. She worked tirelessly to recover from two brain surgeries and survived for over 18 months. Surviving are her parents, Dale & Nancy Helsom of Scotts; her brother Geoffrey Helsom (Audrey) of Portage; her sister Lesley Helsom of Portage; nieces Tatum Helsom and Rece Helsom; Uncle and Aunt Rick Crisenbery (Pat); Frank Helsom (Roberta); Dean Helsom; and many cousins.
