Life Story / Obituary
Jennifer Bennett always knew what she wanted out of life; she was a strong-minded woman, with the strength and courage to pursue all of her dreams. Nothing made Jennifer happier than her mom and children, and in their loving company you could always find a familiar smile brimming across her lips.
The year 1979 marked the end to a decade of political disillusionment, social revolution, and rock 'n' roll. Though the Seventies was a fun, inspiring decade, John and Judith Moon Bennett kept an eager eye to the future as they awaited the birth of their first and only child. On July 22, 1979 they welcomed their daughter Jennifer into their home in Garden City,
Michigan
.
Jennifer spent most of her early childhood in
Wayne
, where she enjoyed swimming, playing with friends, and going to school. Even as a child, she was sensitive, strong, and very up-to-date with the world around her. After she completed the fifth grade, her family relocated to Saline where Jennifer quickly made new friends. Around this time, she met her best friend for life, a fellow classmate named Nikki Phelps. Like Nikki, Jennifer attended
Saline
High School
where she graduated with the class of 1997.
After graduating high school, Jennifer enrolled at
Washtenaw
Community College
and earned an Associates Degree in Business. She then attended
Cleary
College
, where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Business in 2004. This was one of the happiest days in her life.
Jennifer was the proud mother of two beautiful children, Desirae and Trey. She was a devoted, heart-felt mother who tried each day to share her happiness with her kids. To provide for her family, Jennifer worked for
Toyota
for three years, though she recently transferred to Hyundai to take on an associate engineer position. While at
Toyota
, Jennifer helped organize a Walk for Life Fund Raiser to support the race for a breast cancer cure.
Jennifer's favorite place in this world was at home, with the warm company of her family. She and her mother were the best of friends, and though Jennifer was a big fan of hip-hop music, she always enjoyed listening to country music when she was with her mom. At home, Jennifer loved to eat a good meal of mashed potatoes and filet mignon.
Jennifer always knew what she wanted in life, and once she made up her mind there was no changing it. She always kept her family in the center of her heart, and she was the happiest when she was in the company of her beautiful kids and her loving mom. Her greatest days were when Desirae and Trey were born. Jennifer will be greatly missed and frequently remembered by the many people who loved her.
Jennifer died on Tuesday, September 13, 2005. She is survived by her children, Desirae and Trey, her mother Judith, her aunts and uncles, Bob (Kay) Moon, Joyce (Lee) Hall, her loving cousins, and her best friend Nikki Phelps. Jennifer was preceded in death by her father, John. The family will receive friends at the Nie Life Story Funeral Home,
2400 Carpenter Rd.
on Saturday, September 17th, 2005 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 18th at 2:00 pm with visitation continuing from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to TCF Bank,
3839 Carpenter Rd., Ypsilanti, MI
