Obituary
Jane Elyn Tharp (Douglas) Age 73, formerly of Wyoming, Michigan. Jane, with family and friends by her side, passed away at her home on July 10, 2010 after a year long battle with cancer. Jane was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on July 14, 1936 to Willis (Doug) and Marguerite Douglas. She was raised on Fine Lake where she developed her love for the great outdoors of Michigan. Throughout her life, she wore a coat of many colors - daughter, friend, wife, mother, nana, sister, co-worker, aunt, cousin, cook, gardener and handy woman, (she could fix anything). If you were to ask her what her greatest accomplishment in life was, she would say her Family. She is survived by her four children - Col. Donald Tharp and his wife, Mona, of Texas, Phyllis Johnson and her husband, Bill, of Dorr, Michigan, Carol Whitten of Jackson, Tennessee and Patricia Tharp of Jackson, Tennessee. She has 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wilford (Bill) Tharp, and her sister, Mimi of Washington. There will be two memorial services for Jane. The first will be a graveside memorial service to be held Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Crittenden Memorial Park, Marion, Arkansas. A gathering of family and friends will follow immediately at the home of Albert Marconi - 1101 Bridgeport, West Memphis, Arkansas. The second memorial will be a celebration of her life to be held at the Dorr Moose Lodge, 4204 20th St., Dorr, Michigan, on Saturday, August 14, 2010 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in honor of Jane to the Baptist Homecare and Hospice at 631 R. B. Wilson Drive, Huntingdon, TN 38344.
