Irene Gierke Starks

Irene Gierke Starks, 100, of Clifton passed away at Merkle Kniprath Nursing Home in Clifton March 6, 2010. She was born January 28, 1910 in Lamont, IL the daughter of Harry and Edith (Goble) Vimpeny. Irene married Vernon L. Gierke who passed away in December, 1960 and married William Starks who passed away in February, 1973. She was of the Baptist faith and was a woman of God, she also enjoyed sewing, gardening and loving her family.Irene is survived by her son- Larry(Judy)Gierke of Kankakee, two grandchildren- Gretchen (Jeff) Stoltz of Kankakee, Lisa Gierke of Columbus, OH, four great grandchildren- Kara Stiverson, Jon Stiverson, David Tiburtini and Stacy Tiburtini, one borther- Harry Vimpeny of St. Anne, one sister-Florence(Billy) Starks of Graymont, two very special nieces and caretakers- Norma Meier of Clifon and Dolores Brown of Chebanse and numerous neices and nephews.She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two sisters Edna (Leonard) Meyer and Ethel (Walter) Gierke, sister in law Lula Vimpeny and one grandson- Larry LaVern Gierke, Jr.
