Obituary
Bette Joan (Davis) Gallagher, 95, of Augusta, Michigan died peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
Bette was born July 20, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Charles Christopher and Mary Gertrude (Dertinger) Davis. Bette grew up in Detroit and was a 1945 graduate of Immaculata High School. She dedicated her life to her family and her faith.
Bette Joan Davis married the love of her life, Ronald Edward Gallagher, on September 30, 1950, at Gesu Parish and they enjoyed a wonderful marriage for 55 years. Sadly, Bette was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ron on July 5, 2005. Surviving are her sons Mike (Kathy), Pat (Debbie), Dan (Mary Beth), John (Ann), twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, her sister Rosemary Tague and many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. In addition, to her husband, Bette was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters Dorothy and Virginia, and brothers Joseph and Patrick.
Bette was an active parishioner of many churches over the years and a current member of St. Ann Catholic Church, where she attended daily Mass well into her nineties. She loved visiting the sick and was a Eucharistic Minister to many. Bette enjoyed being a member of the Legion of Mary at St. Joseph Church in Battle Creek, MI. Praying to Jesus was a main focus in Bette's life and many were comforted by knowing they were on her "prayer list". She loved raising her four sons and was a vocal supporter at their many sporting events. Bette was avid reader and follower of daily political news and enjoyed discussing various opinions with her diverse group of friends. Summers at Base Lake and helping to build a church at Marco Island were special times for her. Bette will be remembered for her strong opinions and her wonderful sense of humor.
The Rosary will be said at 9:45-10:00am Tuesday, November 19, 2024, and the family will receive friends from 10:00am-11:00am at St. Ann Catholic Church, 12648 East D Ave., Augusta, Michigan, where a Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be celebrated by Rev. David Pinto and the Very Rev. Robert Creagan at 11:00am that day. The service will be livestreamed and may be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/stannchurch. Committal and inurnment will be on November 20, 2024, at 1:30pm Wednesday at Fort Custer National Cemetery, where Bette will be laid to rest next to her husband, Ron.
