Benjamin Godfrey

Benjamin Henry Godfrey, 74, of Newaygo, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2007 at his home. Ben is survived by his wife, Linnea; a son, Lowell Godfrey of Newaygo and grandsons, Connor and Evan Godfrey of Grand Rapids; his sister, Alice Hirsch of Fremont; his brothers, Robert (Dolly) Godfrey of Grand Rapids, Andrew (Rose) Godfrey of Alto; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ben held many people in his heart including Ann Godfrey of Grand Rapids, Darrold Carrier of New Era, Kira Dennis of California and Jan Auke and Marlene Steegstra of The Netherlands. Ben was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Jan Marie and his sisters, Norma and Floramerle Godfrey. A funeral celebration of Ben's life will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 from the Newaygo Congregational United Church of Christ at 432 Quarterline. Visitation will be held on Sunday 4 to 6 p.m. and Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the church.
