Barbara Buth

BUTH - Barbara Henrietta Daane Buth, age 92, of Grand Haven, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Meadowbrook Care Facility in Bellaire, MI. Barb was born in Grand Rapids, MI on January 17, 1917 to Martin and Henrietta (VanderMeulen) Daane. She was a member of Central Reformed Church in Grand Rapids and later First Presbyterian Church of Grand Haven. She attended Central High School and graduated from Ottawa Hills High School. Barb was past president of the Mary Free Bed Hospital Guild and the East Grand Rapids High School PTA. She enjoved volunteering at church, playing bridge, attending craft classes, summers at the lake in Grand Haven and winters in Florida. Barb was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years and the love of her life, Gerritt in 1992; her brother, Hubert in 1936, her sister, Marion Southwick in 1998 and her son-in-law, Dr. William Dunbar in 2008. She is survived by her children: Mary Dunbar, Baton Rouge, LA; Sue (Gary) Knapp, Bellaire, MI; Gary Buth, Grand Haven; Chuck (Jan), Edina, MN, and grandchildren, Bob (Marianne) Alt and great-grandchildren, Ellen and Charlie; Joe (Franseca) Alt and great grandchildren, Miette and Amelie; Chris (Christina) Alt and great-grandchild, Harper; Greg (Shannon) Buth (and soon to be great grandchild "baby Buth"); Kevin Buth; foster grandson, Cortez Robinson; and cousin, Margaret Korcz of Grand Haven. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Central Reformed Church, Grand Rapids, Dr. Louis Lotz officiating, with visitation one hour prior. Interment service for family and friends will be at Woodlawn Cemetery following the church service. Barbara will be forever in the hearts of all who loved her.
